Design brief: Design a cradle for the modern maternity wards at Gødstrup Hospital, which creates a homely and safe feeling for parents and at the same time provides optimal working conditions for the hospital's staff.
Hospitalsvuggen Nor was designed for the new modern hospital in Gødstrup. The cradle was designed based on a brief we received from Gødstrup hospital.
The hospital cradle Nor has been developed to meet a wide range of needs. From parents with their newborns to the workflow of the midwives and service assistants. With its soft shapes, flat legs and smooth surfaces, the cradle is easy to clean. The strategically placed cutouts at the end of the cradle functions both as handles and also provide space for medical equipment, e.g. for equipment used for jaundice treatment. The cradle is robust, so you can get a good grip around the handle, which can be an advantage for those who may have difficulty walking after a caesarean section. The Nor hospital cradle is also removable and the sides can be folded down, which gives the option of having the cradle in the hospital bed or using it as a bedside crib.
